annual all-school Spring Art Show !!!  

View a wide variety of student art including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and digital media! Admission is free!

 

As part of the annual release of the Arts and Literature publication, 

Many Waters, we will feature our first "Coffee House." 

Enjoy student-led music and poetry. Light refreshments will be served.  

Issues of Many Waters will be on sale at the event for $8.00.

The International Student Program at The Master's 

School is growing strong and vibrantly! Host Families

play a key role into making our program succeed.  

We currently have openings for host families to house male students in the 2013-2014 Academic School Year.

The Master's School Spring Dance Showcase!

 When:     Saturday, May 4th at 6:00pm

Where:   The Gym at TMS

Details: 

All are invited to come to our end-of-the-year dance showcase! 

Dancers from EK - High School will be performing choreography they have worked on all year long. Styles showcased will range from classical ballet, to modern, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop! Admission is free of charge, but we do suggest you arrive early to get a good seat! Doors will open for audience members 30 minutes before the show starts. Please come support your dance friends, we are sure you will enjoy your evening out at the Dance Showcase!

Upper School News

JR/SR Ball-May 10, 2013

 Only Juniors and Seniors are dismissed at 12:30 pm.

Please make all appointments after this time. Juniors need to decorate for the ball and then move on to appointments. If you are giving permission for your student to leave the ball before 10:30 pm, a written note must be received in the office before school is dismissed. Once a student leaves the ball, he/she may not return. Please be praying for a safe and honoring evening to be had by all.

Details:

This event is hosted by the junior class in honor of the senior class.  Tickets will be on sale after Spring break.  The cost for juniors and seniors is covered in the activity fee and the cost for all freshman, sophomores, and outside guests is $85.00. There is a dress code and all ball gowns need to be checked by Mrs. Kay or Mrs. Deckert.

US Academic Awards Ceremony - May 15, 2013

Save the Date for this event!  The awards ceremony serves to recognize students who exhibit exceptional academic accomplishments and character qualities. Parents of students who will be receiving an award will receive notifications in advance.

Senior Exams - May 16 & 17, 2013

Date:   May 16 & 17, 2013

Time:  Various

Place:  Various Locations on the TMS Campus

Details: 

Seniors with a combined Q3 and Q4 grade point average of less than 85% are required to take a final exam in courses where a final exam is given. They must report to campus in time for their first exam and need not be present on campus whenever they do not have an exam; signing in and out is still required. As the schedule is dependent upon grades, the exam times and locations are yet to be determined.

High School athletes playing on TMS teams for the first time will be required to purchase a school sweat suit that can be used all 4 years in all sports.  This is intended to be a onetime purchase.  Samples are available in the athletic office for sizing.  Orders should be place through your team coach.

 

Team Meals:

All athletes will be given a form at the beginning of the season describing our program to provide meals for the athletes when they will arrive home after dinner time from an away game.  If you have any questions or need another form, please contact Ed Lebo or Julie Lebo in the Athletic Office. 860-651-3845

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the Gala:  Volunteers, families and businesses who donated auction items, students who contributed artwork, parents, grandparents, alumni and friends who bought tickets, faculty and staff at TMS, everyone in attendance, all the prayer partners.  Each one played an essential part in bringing together a beautiful night that celebrated The Master's School, honored the Master, and helped raise needed funds for the school.

 

 Basket Competition

All the baskets compiled by our families were great hits!  For those of you who are curious... the 6th grade We're Growing Gardening Basket was the highest MS basket bid upon, and they have already celebrated with a Dunkin' Donuts party.  The 12th grade won Dress Down Passes as the Dining In/Dining Out Basket brought in the highest amount of the US baskets. Date for dress down to be determined soon by Mrs. Kay.  Great Job Everyone and Thank You Again!

 

Wrap Up Meeting

Join us on Monday, April 8 at 8:00 a.m. in the dining hall for a wrap up meeting.  Share what you think went well and how we can improve for next year.

 Team Sweat Suits:

 High School athletes playing on TMS teams for the first time will be required to purchase a school sweat suit that can be used all 4 years in all sports.  This is intended to be a onetime purchase.  Samples are available in the athletic office for sizing.  Orders should be place through your team coach.

 Team Meals:

All athletes will be given a form at the beginning of the season describing our program to provide meals for the athletes when they will arrive home after dinner time from an away game.  If you have any questions or need another form, please contact Ed Lebo or Julie Lebo in the Athletic Office. 860-651-3845

Community News

Easter Weekend

Good Friday:

A Community Good Friday Service will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. This is a three hour ("tre ore") service that starts at 12 noon and is focused on the Seven Last Words of Christ. You do not have to attend the entire three hours. The opening liturgy is 15 minutes. The liturgy for each of the words is about 23 minutes in length. Pastor Dana will be bringing the 7th word, "Into Your hands I commit my spirit!" at around 2:20.

 

The evening of March 29 at 5:45 PM New Life in Christ Fellowship will host our annual "The Last Supper: Jesus in the Passover". This is an opportunity to participate in a Passover Seder with an emphasis on its fulfillment in the person of Jesus as Messiah using readings and music from traditional and Messianic Jewish materials. Seating is limited and reservations are required. For information and reservations contact Pastor Dana Jorgensen at New Life In Christ Fellowship, 250 Firetown Road, Simsbury, 860-658-9988.

 

Saturday:

The young and young at heart are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of New Life in Christ Fellowship Church, 250 Firetown Rd, Simsbury. Easter Sunday:

The Annual Community Easter Sunrise Service held on the Gengras Estate in the Talcott Mountain area will begin at 6:35 AM Easter Morning. From Simsbury take Rt. 185 toward Hartford. After the entrance to Penwood Park and large pond, turn left onto Penwood Road. From Bloomfield, travel west on 185 for 3/4 mile after junction with Rt. 178. Turn right onto Penwood Road before the pond. Proceed 200 feet and look for signs on right. Questions can be directed to New Life In Christ Fellowship, 860-658-9988

Enrollment Celebration Day

Thank you to all the families who participated in our first Enrollment Celebration Day. Over 160 students completed the re-enrollment process and received their Golden Tickets.

 For families who were unable to participate in Enrollment Celebration Day, it is not too late.  Many classes are filling up quickly, to ensure your child's place for the upcoming school year, please send in the forms or contact the Admissions Office at your earliest convenience.

The School of Swimming Telephone Registration begins Saturday, February 23, 2013 for our Farmington and Windsor locations!

TMS alumni, Blake and Heather (Petersen) BeVier '99 own and operate The School of Swimming.

 

We are excited to announce that, in addition to our lessons in Rocky Hill, we will be teaching at Miss Porter's School, located in Farmington, CT and The Loomis Chaffee School, located in Windsor, CT.  For more information, including dates of sessions and times, please visit our website. View the Auction Catalog on our website to see what has already been donated.  We are still looking for volunteers to ask for and/or collect donated items.  Many area businesses have been supporting the school by donating goods and services to this event, but our most unique and highly sought-after items come from TMS families themselves.  In the past we have had families give time at their vacation homes, prepare homemade meals or baked goods, donate babysitting services or put together a themed basket.  No gift is too big or too small and it is all for a great cause - our wonderful school!  Click here for an auction donation form.  Click here for more information.

Team Sweat Suits:

 

High School athletes playing on TMS teams for the first time will be required to purchase a school sweat suit that can be used all 4 years in all sports.  This is intended to be a onetime purchase.  Samples are available in the athletic office for sizing.  Orders should be place through your team coach.

Pathways at TMS

Child care will be provided from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on campus for children age 4- 5th grade and supervised study halls for those in the middle and upper schools. 

We are offering an evening and morning option for those who could not attend if we only had one session.  The content of the meeting will be pretty vast as key directional issues of importance for this school community will be covered.  We hope you will join for this very special event.

The Simsbury Food Closet has asked for our help to provide food for the community. In the past we collected 10 large boxes of food- Let's try to top that mark this year! TMS Upper School Student Life Members will be organizing the food drive from:

Non- Perishable items needed: 

Canned tuna, Peanut Butter, Coffee, Tea, Tissues, Napkins, Toilet paper, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Diapers, Flour, Sugar, Soup, Crackers, Syrup.

 

Collection boxes will be located in the Middle School, Math/Science Building, Connector Building and Administration Building.

2013 US Winter Retreat - Feb. 14-15, 2013

 

The 2013 US Winter Retreat will take place from Thursday-Friday, February 14-15, 2013.  More information and trip forms can be found in the - Winter Retreat Packet on our website. 

 

 

  

    

February Vacation Trip 2/19/13 - 2/22/13

 

The TMS International Students will be heading up to the Adirondack Mountains during February Vacation for some fun and relaxation!  They will stay at Camp of the Woods Christian Resort and Conference Center in Speculator, New York to participate in lots numerous winter fun activities (tubing, ice-skating, skiing, rock climbing, and campfires).  Check out www.camp-of-the-woods.org for more information. 

 

Family groups and US Students are invited to join them on this TMS- coordinated trip.  A coach bus will leave the TMS Parking Lot on Tuesday, February 19th at noon and return on Friday, February 22 about 4 p.m.

 

Family groups will need to assume full responsibility supervising own children.  There are 10 spots for Upper School Students who wish to attend without a parent.  (We have student-chaperone ratios to consider)

 

The cost for this all-inclusive, 4 day, 3 night trip is $225 per person.  This includes all meals, lodging, social activities, and transportation.   For those who want to snow ski - there is a nominal charge. This is shaping up to be a phenomenal experience!

TMS Art Teacher Jim DeCesare

 

Each year Jim conducts painting and drawing demonstrations to regional arts organizations.  Jim wanted to extend an invitation to a demonstration he is conducting for members of the Avon Arts Association that is free to the public.  Details can be found here.  

  

 

New Life in Christ Fellowship 

 

New Life in Christ, 250 Firetown Rd, Simsbury, will host Steve and Barbara Wibberly this Sunday, February 10 starting at 10:30 AM.
Steve and Barbara have worked with the small Christian community in the Middle East for over 20 years and have a wealth of wisdom and experience from their time ministering in the midst of the Isl@mic culture (The @ is intentional and will be explained Sunday.)    

This will be of interest to the whole family. There will be time for questions during the service and at the reception immediately following. There is no admission charge, but a special offering will be received to help cover their expenses.

2013 Winter Theatre Production:

 

Save the date for TMS's theatre production this year, Our Miss Brooks, a hilarious and heartwarming comedy about a high school teacher and her students who work to put on a school play.   

  

Performances are March 8-9, 15-16  at 7:00 pm in the Great Hall.  Stay tuned for ticket information.

Please Save the Date for our All Parent Meeting, TMS Pathway, on Wednesday evening, February 27!  Please bring your family for dinner and dessert at 5:30 p.m.  Child care will be provided for children age 4- 5th grade on campus while the meeting takes place from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Simsbury Food Closet has asked for our help to provide food for the community. In the past we collected 10 large boxes of food- Let's try to top that mark this year! TMS Upper School Student Life Members will be organizing the food drive from:

Non- Perishable items needed: 

Canned tuna, Peanut Butter, Coffee, Tea, Tissues, Napkins, Toilet paper, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Diapers, Flour, Sugar, Soup, Crackers, Syrup.      Collection boxes will be located in the Middle School, Math/Science Building, Connector Building and Administration Building. Chinese New Year Celebration - Feb. 4-8, 2013

 

In celebration of Chinese New Year, TMS is having a Red Shirt & Jeans Day on Tuesday, February 5, 2013! Students are permitted to wear jeans if they wear a red shirt (see handbook for clothing considerations). Those who choose not to participate must wear regular class dress. 

 

 

2013 US Winter Retreat - Feb. 14-15, 2013

 

The 2013 US Winter Retreat will take place from Thursday-Friday, February 14-15, 2013.  More information and trip forms can be found in the - Winter Retreat Packet on our website. 

 

 

  

 

Europe 2013 Meeting:

 

If you have signed up for the Europe trip for this spring please attend the group meeting this Monday, February 4, at 7:00 pm in the Great Hall.  The next steps for the trip will be discussed and necessary forms will be available to fill out.   Please bring either your passport or a color copy of your passport and your birth certificate/ I-20.  If you do not have a passport yet please start the process immediately.

February Vacation Trip 2/19/13 - 2/22/13

 

The TMS International Students will be heading up to the Adirondack Mountains during February Vacation for some fun and relaxation!  They will stay at Camp of the Woods Christian Resort and Conference Center in Speculator, New York to participate in lots numerous winter fun activities (tubing, ice-skating, skiing, rock climbing, and campfires).  Check out www.camp-of-the-woods.org for more information. 

 

Family groups and US Students are invited to join them on this TMS- coordinated trip.  A coach bus will leave the TMS Parking Lot on Tuesday, February 19th at noon and return on Friday, February 22 about 4 p.m.

 

Family groups will need to assume full responsibility supervising own children.  There are 10 spots for Upper School Students who wish to attend without a parent.  (We have student-chaperone ratios to consider)

 

The cost for this all-inclusive, 4 day, 3 night trip is $225 per person.  This includes all meals, lodging, social activities, and transportation.   For those who want to snow ski - there is a nominal charge. This is shaping up to be a phenomenal experience!

Team Sweat Suits:

 

High School athletes playing on TMS teams for the first time will be required to purchase a school sweat suit that can be used all 4 years in all sports.  This is intended to be a onetime purchase.  Samples are available in the athletic office for sizing.  Orders should be place through your team coach.

 

Team Meals:

 

All fall athletes have been given a form describing our program to provide meals for the athletes when they will arrive home after dinner time from an away game.  If you have any questions or need another form, please contact Ed Lebo or Julie Lebo in the Athletic Office.

Camp Eagle Wing

Come to CAMP EAGLE WING!

 

TMS Alumni Wes and Becca (Brooks) BeVier ('97) own and operate Camp Eagle Wing, a traditional resident camp for boys and girls ages

9-16, located on Gardner Lake in Marion Township Maine. They offer 11 day, 3 week, and 6 week programs, including a full-summer leadership program for 16 year olds called Anchor Points. Eagle Wing offers a variety of activities including: Sailing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Climbing, Drama, Arts and Crafts, Woodworking,

Camp-craft, Journalism, and numerous field sports.
