   Welcome to the Middle School

It is our pleasure to welcome you and your family to The Master's School Middle School.  We are certain that our  combination of passionate educators, high academic  expectations, varied opportunities for student excellence, and commitment to personal and spiritual growth will provide  students with an engaging, well-rounded and personalized educational experience.

Middle School is an exciting time! A time filled with mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual changes. Having teachers you trust and a program tailored to your unique needs makes all the difference. Our middle school teachers delight in their students and desire to know them inside and out, to know their strengths and their weaknesses, to best plan for how to help them learn. Furthermore, our goal is to create a safe place here at our school, a safe place to navigate many of the transitions of adolescence.

Our middle school is dynamic and interactive. To prepare students for high school's demands, our team of teachers challenge students to take risks, think critically and use discernment, understand and apply their personal, spiritual, and academic talents, deepen their relationship with Christ, and make service a priority.

At this age, establishing a self-identity and a social place contend strongly. Middle School students are encouraged to build up and support each other as well as discover their own gifts and talents. A strong sense of belonging and acceptance is the result.

Middle School teachers work closely as a team to ensure no student is a number and to thoughtfully guide them through the transitions of life as an early adolescent.

Mission Statement:

The Master’s School Middle School is committed to the intentional and thoughtful guidance of children as they transition toward becoming godly young men and women.

Through our carefully designed and enriching environment each and every student can be challenged intellectually, develop socially and emotionally, mature physically, and pursue a personal spiritual growth as they gain the necessary skills of a successful 21st century learner.

"As a seasoned educator and parent I can speak with confidence about the value of a healthy Christian educational environment.   The middle school years are a time when the most radical changes in a young person's life occur.  It is during this period of rapid growth that the support of adults other than parents is most significant.  We therefore take seriously the calling in Christ to bring a balance of compassion and accountability, and commit ourselves to love, nurture and discipline the children in our care.

The Master's School goals for our 6th, 7th and 8th graders are that they learn to take responsibility for their choices and that they grow in respect for one another.  The important, transitional middle school years build on the foundation of skills that were learned during the Lower School years. A varied and dynamic curriculum is the key to tapping into the diverse strengths of the individual students during this pivotal time in their development. Our focus is on continued development of study skills, critical thinking skills and character development. A safe emotional environment stimulates learning and invites academic, athletic, and artistic risk.  Honors courses are introduced.  Student government is instituted.  Students learn to successfully organize their homework and their time as they are given short-term and long-term assignments. The challenge of working in groups as well as working independently is stressed.

The Middle School faculty teach out of the riches of a Christian worldview, challenging students toward excellence in their studies and maturity in their community. Education that integrates faith and learning, is not a new concept, rather a former goal of almost every college in America prior to the 19th century. Integrating faith and learning, the cornerstone of a Christian worldview, can help restore the loss of morality and loss of accountability so prevalent in many of our schools today.  Each member of the faculty and staff views each student as a unique creation, prized and valued for his/her individuality.  We intend for students to feel valued for who they are without having to conform to adolescent trends.

As they discover their unique gifts and talents, students are challenged to seek God's truth. The Middle School offers a comprehensive spiritual life program. This program includes Bible classes, daily devotions, advisee meetings, and chapels as well as retreats and class trips.  Students are encouraged to participate in community building activities and service opportunities.  Elective Bible Studies are a popular option for students who want to know more about how to apply biblical truth.

At a time when many youth distance themselves from adults, Middle School faculty work to develop significant ties to their students.  Small class sizes allows for an individualized, relational approach that gives students a sense of belonging and self-acceptance.  Teachers and staff work closely to ensure that students' needs are being met and that they are well prepared for the demands of the Upper School."

"Welcome to Middle School, an exciting time to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.

The Middle School years are such a transitional period – physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. We, as a Middle School team, look to capitalize on this window of opportunity to guide students through these transitions from boys to girls to Godly young men and women.

Students change socially in their primary focus from family to peers.  As our students are guided through the many changes, they begin to understand concepts more deeply, develop independence, and forge a stronger sense of spiritual and social identity. Our Middle School Faculty presents an active, exploratory curriculum with an integrated biblical worldview in the classroom and provide a safe and stimulating environment. We inspire independent thinkers by providing controlled opportunities to experiment in our academic setting. Students learn to identify their limits and develop skills to rise to expectations and often push past them. This Middle School program allows students to question and seek for truth and solidify a spiritual identity filled with godly character.

In addition to interacting with students in the classroom, our enthusiastic and devoted staff seeks to minister to the whole child as well.  They are available to offer guidance for personal and social issues, and interact with students outside the classroom during social and service opportunities.

Our Middle School truly is a destination! Come and make your mark!"
