We kicked off the tennis season in true Simsbury Farms fashion, very blustery. Our young team played an experienced Chase squad, and they prevailed 5-2. Since this was an early match on the calendar, we didn't have nearly as many girls eligible as we would have liked. So although Chase brought 10 girls, we had to use some repeats, as only eight of ours were eligible. Hopefully all the girls get their paperwork and medicals before the next match on wed.
Emi played S1, and as if often the case, S1 harbors some strong players. Emi hung in for awhile, but eventually lost 3-10. Kaitlyn played S2, and the match was even up to 7-7, but then Kaitlyn put together a few strong games, and won 10-7. Hannah and Kristin, like Emi, played their first competitive singles matches at S3 and S4, respectively, and both came in second. Scores were 6-10 for Hannah and 2-10 for Kristin. The lack of singles match experience really showed, and the next time we face Chase I think these two will come out on top. Emi too!
At D1, Emi teamed with Kaitlyn in an all-senior team, and they won 10-5. Shelby teamed with Sara and they fought for a long time before their opponents prevailed 6-10 at D2. Last year Shelby and Sara were both pretty new to the sport, and now they're playing tough at D2 against a pretty strong team. Nice job! We did get a couple of brand new players into the match, Marisa and Lydia. They won a couple of games (2-10), which was a great first step. Later this season, these two will be crafting points and winning matches!
Well done team!
