Varsity Boys' Basketball

The Master’s School Boys Varsity basketball team has had a challenging season so far. After suffering several losses at the hands of Putnam Science, the team began to experience a sense of defeat. Yet all of that changed in a single game against Hamden Hall. Tired of losing and ready for a solid victory, the Master’s Lions threw everything they had against Hamden Hall. With 30 seconds left in the game and the score 71-70, the team knew they had to pull through and win. Sure enough, TMS won the game due to a series of successful foul shots by forward David Maturah. With this victory, the team’s spirits lifted and they began to play with more confidence and aggression. At the Middlesex Tournament in Middlesex, MA, Master’s finished second after defeating Brook’s and Governor’s. The team’s success in the tournament, coupled with their recent win against Hamden Hall, led them on a 7 game winning streak against teams such as Leadership Prep, Putnam Science and the notorious TMS rival Christian Heritage School. Unfortunately, a 9-point loss to St. George’s last Wednesday ended the Lion’s winning streak. However, the recent 60-35 blowout against New York Military Academy has given the TMS Lions new confidence. With their new-found aggression, the team’s innate skills and dedication to the sport, the Master’s boy’s varsity basketball team is ready to begin winning again. Under the careful guidance of Head Coach Ralph Auriantal and Assistant Coach Nelson Carter, the TMS Lions are looking to renew their winning streak and end the season with a string of resounding victories.
