Academics
Founded in 1970, The Master's School is the only co-educational Christian day school for students preschool through grade 12 in the Farmington Valley.
THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The aim of a true Christian school is to encourage the pursuit of knowing God, His created world, and the expressed order found therein. It engages the mind and heart along the higher paths of intellection while building the heart's capacity for inspiration and revelation. This knowledge should be exercised by the student and teacher to serve a fallen world seeing it through the redemptive lens of scripture bringing grace and stewardship to God's creation. It is transformational education.
Our educational philosophy then is centered from a Christian worldview that sees God as the source of all things. The Christian school trains the mind to think critically and to seek truth. As a Christian school we view all truth as his truth. It makes connections to the bigger picture of God as Creator, Savior, and Lord. Since education is His domain, a Christian school points to his role in history, his creatorship in the sciences, the beauty and aesthetics in the arts, the power of the written and spoken word in languages and literature, and the order and precision of God's mind in math. While the Bible is taught it is also integrated into all that we do offering a framework of understanding our world. This Biblical perspective uncovers the unique design of a child and begins to unveil who and what they are called to do for God's Kingdom. Each student will be nurtured and challenged to strive for personal excellence and spiritual maturity. We believe the rigorous pursuit of academic learning that involves inquiry, understanding beyond rote, and the pursuit of wisdom is one way to honor Christ.
