Welcome to Third Grade at The Master's School!

Your child has scaled the cliffs of early reading, shot the rapids of adding and subtracting, and mined for gems in the world of writing.  In other words, first and second grade are over.  What could top all that!?    Well, in fact there's a giant step waiting in third grade, which will be a year that is OUT OF THIS WORLD!  This year, and increasingly in fourth and fifth grades, kids move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn," and from "learning to write" to "writing to communicate."    It will be a year of discovery and adventure!  The children will grow in every way imaginable!

My name is Christy Neagle and I've been teaching in the public schools for over 15 years.  I feel blessed to be teaching here at the Master's School where I can teach the curriculum from a Christian worldview and infuse my love for the Lord into all aspects of the day. There is such a freedom in being able to share Christ and see Him work in the lives of my students, as well as in my own life and in the lives of my three children.

I love all aspects of teaching!  I am especially driven to ignite a passion of learning in every student!  It is my desire to connect with each child, to discover their strengths and weaknesses, and to help nurture their God given gifts to their full potential!

Not only is every child celebrated at the Master's School, but every teacher is able to integrate their personality, interests, and passions into the classroom. Here are a few tidbits about myself:  I love music!  I love to play the guitar, sing and teach the students many songs about God and about the curriculum.  (I even sing sentences while giving a spelling test!) 

I love to learn as many different languages as possible!  Several years ago, along with 100 students from around the world, I traveled for one year in a group called Up With People where I stayed in many  different countries.  It was there that I developed a passion for cultures and languages which I try to incorporate into my classroom in every way possible.  By the end of the third grade year, my students know how to count to 10, sing songs and speak phrases in over 8 different languages. 

I am also fluent in sign language. Amazingly, at the end of every year, students in my classroom leave knowing almost as much sign language as I do!   I also LOVE learning about famous Americans and discovering how they made a difference in this world.  It is my desire to  help my students see that they too can make a difference in their family, school, community and world.
