WHY A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
Until the 20th century most institutions of higher education were based on the Christian School philosophy of the integration of faith and learning. Education at institutions such as Harvard, William & Mary, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and Brown (just to name a few), was concerned not only with content but with character.
The aim of a true Christian school is to encourage the pursuit of knowing God, His created world, and the expressed order found therein. It engages the mind and heart along the higher paths of intellect while building the heart's capacity for inspiration and revelation. It is transformational education.
What does it mean when the curriculum of a school is based on a biblical world view? Are students taught religious doctrine, creationism at the expense of evolution? All core academic classes are taught at The Master's School. There is no such thing as "Christian Math" or "Christian Reading". Since education is His domain, a Christian school points to His role in history, His creatorship in the sciences, the beauty and aesthetics in the arts, the power of the written and spoken word in languages and literature, and the order and precision of God's mind in math. We believe the rigorous pursuit of academic learning that involves inquiry, understanding beyond rote, and that the pursuit of wisdom is one way to honor Christ.
A Christian school trains the mind to think critically and to seek truth. We want our students to learn everything so that as they mature they understand who they are and why they believe what they do. Education that is concerned not only with content but character can greatly change the course of a student's life.
From early childhood through the final years before adulthood, The Master’s School instills its students with a faith in God, a faith in learning and a faith in each other. When our graduates drive past the school’s banners on their way into the world, they have grown in wisdom, honor and friendship. The Master’s School is proud to play a part in developing young students’ lifelong dedication to excellence, integrity and truth.
