Technology & Research Center
Technology & Research Center (TRC)
The Master's School library was transformed into the Technology & Research Center (TRC) to highlight the central roles that technology and research play in today's educational environment. The TRC is both a physical and virtual space that supports technological inquiry and the research needs of students in Grades K-12. This redesigned space still features the library's print collection, but also provides more space for classroom use and student collaboration.
Technology classes for Grades 6-8 meet in the TRC. These classes feature LEGO robotics and coding with Scratch in order to teach basic programming, project management, computational thinking and problem solving skills. Students are also taught the fundamentals of computer science, library research and digital citizenship, so they can use technology successfully and appropriately.
A Makerspace station provides students with an area to experiment with technology. It includes a computer with open source CAD, a 3-D printer, soldering iron and various other hand tools and materials.
The TRC provides traditional library services for the Lower School, including weekly library visits. The print collection supports research for Grades K-12 and recreational reading for Grades K-5.
Destiny can be accessed to locate both print and online resources 24/7. Digital resources include thousands of ebooks and full-text periodicals and newspapers available through databases on all academic subjects; and several online encyclopedias.
