Emergency and School Closure Notification System

We have partnered with Alert Solutions to notify you of school closings, delays, early dismissals, and other important communications via email, voice, and text messaging.

Some specific information you should know:

  • Caller ID:  The Call ID will display 860-651-9361, which is the main number for The Master’s School.
  • Live Answers:  There is a short pause at the beginning of the message, usually a few seconds. Answer your phone as you normally would—‘hello’—and wait for the message to begin.  Multiple ‘hellos’ will delay the message.
  • Answering Machines:  The system will detect that your machine has answered and will play the recording to your machine. The phone will ring for up to 40 seconds.  Make sure that your machine answers after four rings or you may miss the message.
  • Text messages will be sent from 95664. Please note you will not be able to reply to text messages sent from the school. You may unsubscribe by changing your preferences or contacting the school.

Emergency messages are always sent with all three message types (email, text, and voice calls) and to every contact field we have available, even if you have opted out of the other categories. Emergency messages are reserved for use during an actual emergency, such as a natural disaster or other life threatening situations. 

 

Opt-Out or Change your contact information

  • Complete the Emergency Notification System Contact Update Form to add, change, or delete any phone numbers or emails.
  • Parents of students in the Lower School are advised to email communications@masterschool.org to modify their contact preferences. 
  • Parents of students in the Middle and Upper School may customize their notification preferences from PowerSchool. See below for instructions. The Lower School does not utilize PowerSchool. 
  • You may also call the school at 860-651-9361 to request to be removed from future notifications.

 

Changing your notification preferences in PowerSchool 

Log-on to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and look for  “Alert Solutions 2”. 

You will see all the contact information our school has listed for you. You are able to select your communication preferences based on message category, such as school closures or attendance, and message type (email, voice and/or text message). You may opt-out of any message category, except for Emergency messages. Click the X in the corner above the number to opt out of this service.

Emergency messages are always sent with all three message types (email, text, and voice calls) and to every contact field shown, even if you have opted out of the other categories. Emergency messages will be labeled as such and will be reserved for use during an actual emergency. 

To opt-out of a category, simply click the X in the corner of the contact information.

By default, phone calls, text messages, and email are pre-selected.  You will receive messages at every contact field shown and every message category that has all three message types chosen. Tolls and charges associated with receipt of messages from the school are your responsibility and not the responsibility of the school.  Please be sure to set your unique preferences if there are any numbers you do not want to be contacted at. All phone numbers and email addresses must be in a valid 10 digit format, (i.e. 860-651-9361).

If you do not have access to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, you may contact the school directly to request changes.
