Derek is an Upper School History and Language Arts teacher. He attended Westfield State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Science in Regional Planning and minored in Geographic Information Systems. This is Derek’s second year at The Master's School and his eighth year teaching. He has taught English, World History, US Government, Economics, Speech, Geometry, and Yearbook. He decided to become a teacher because after college he worked a substitute teacher and he found that working with students was something he really enjoyed. He chose to teach at The Master's School because he recognizes the value of a Christian education and believes that it is very important to integrate faith and academics.
Derek is a published author and has two books called: Lost Springfield, Massachusetts, and New England Then and Now. In his free time, Derek enjoys reading, writing, history, baseball, photography, and traveling.
