Vocal Music
The vocal music program at The Master's School provides students with a rich, spiritually centered musical experience, emphasizing the importance of bringing glory to God through song. From foundational training in large ensemble singing to advanced vocal techniques, our choirs focus on musical excellence, collaboration, and personal growth. Students engage with a diverse repertoire, including classical works, sacred anthems, and contemporary music, while learning to sing in harmony and develop skills in music literacy and performance. With a strong emphasis on using their talents to honor God, students participate in both school performances and community outreach, fostering a love of music and a spirit of service.

Grace Notes
Grades K–2
Grace Notes is our youngest choir and provides an engaging introduction to choral singing. Students develop healthy vocal technique, music literacy, listening skills, rhythm, and performance confidence through age-appropriate songs and activities. Singers explore unison and simple part-singing while learning the fundamentals of ensemble performance in a fun and supportive environment. Students perform in their own Christmas Concert and Spring Concert and share their music with the school community at Grandparents Day. -
Leading Tones
Grades 3-5
The Lower School choir is designed as an introduction to large ensemble singing. Vocal production, music literacy, ear-training skills, and performance etiquette are the focus of each rehearsal. Leading Tones sings in unison and two-part harmony and often includes cross-discipline projects with both instrumentalists and drama. Students perform in our Christmas Concert and Spring Concert as well as at other campus events. -
Middle School Performing Arts Company

Performing Arts Company is an energetic, collaborative course where students develop skills in singing, acting, movement, creativity, and performance. Through games, workshops, ensemble activities, and performance projects, students learn how to communicate with confidence, work as a team, and bring stories to life on stage. -
Aria

Aria is The Master’s School’s premier auditioned choir, open to students in Grades 6–12 who demonstrate a high level of musical ability and commitment. This advanced ensemble performs a challenging and diverse repertoire while representing the school through numerous performances and special events throughout the year. -
CMEA
Grade 6-12
Middle and Upper School choir students are encouraged to audition for CMEA (Connecticut Music Educators Association) Northern Regionals Honor Choir. Upper School students have the opportunity to audition for All-State Honor Choir after being accepted to Regionals.

Lower School Music
Lower School students grow in musical skill, confidence, and a love for worship through participation in our choral music program. Grace Notes (Kindergarten–Grade 2) and Leading Tones (Grades 3–5) provide age-appropriate opportunities for students to explore music through singing, movement, listening, and collaborative music-making. As students learn foundational skills such as pitch, rhythm, music reading, and beginning harmony, they also discover the joy of creating music together.
Music in the Lower School is designed to nurture both artistic and spiritual growth. Many of the pieces students learn incorporate Scripture-based texts, helping students connect their faith with their musical experiences. Through rehearsals and performances, students develop teamwork, responsibility, attentive listening, and the confidence that comes from contributing to a shared goal.
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to share their gifts with the school community through concerts, chapel services, Grandparents Day celebrations, and other special events. Grace Notes presents its own Christmas and Spring performances, while Leading Tones performs alongside Middle School and Upper School students in larger Christmas and Spring productions, often incorporating elements of drama. Leading Tones students also have the opportunity to participate in the Festival of the Arts, showcasing their growth and creativity as performers. These experiences help students develop a lifelong appreciation for music while encouraging them to use their talents to glorify God and serve others.
Private Lessons & Group Classes
Many Lower School students enrich their musical education through private lessons and small-group string classes offered on campus for an additional fee. Taught by a professional strings instructor, these opportunities allow students to learn violin or viola in a supportive and engaging environment. Whether receiving individualized instruction or learning alongside peers, students develop strong foundational skills, musical confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the art of music.
Chamber Music
Middle and Upper School instrumentalists have the exciting opportunity to participate in a chamber music class led by a seasoned performer and music educator. Through regular class sessions, students develop advanced ensemble skills, musical independence, collaboration, and artistry while performing in small chamber groups.
Participation in the chamber music program is available for an additional fee. Students must be enrolled in private lessons on their instrument to ensure they are prepared for the demands of chamber music. Violin and viola students may fulfill this requirement by taking private lessons with the chamber music instructor.
