Man of the Match: Evan Ellrod
Despite being down six players, Master's competed admirably with the visiting team: maintaining posession and creating many great scoring chances.
The scoring opened early, with Dom Bergantino finding the back of the net after weaving between several MidState defenders. MidState answered soon after, equalizing with a strong finish past startled keeper Ben Frey.
After that the Lions answered powerfully, as Dom and then Will Frey muscled in the next two goals. Evan Ellrod laced a spectacular shot off the crossbar from 25 yards out before finding the net with an easy finish for the Lions' fourth. A second from Will was followed by a phenomal finish by right back Mark Yeh to bring Masters' first half lead to 6-1.
In the second the Lions settled in for the long haul. Winger Saylor Willauer fought tooth and nail with the MidState left back throughout the match, while Jackson Guilliams created several thrilling scoring chances. Man of the Match Evan Ellrod led them team though. In the absence of several key players Evan stepped into the midfield position and controled the pace for Masters, distributing the ball well and owning his part of the field. Great game boys!
