The Class of 2024 Graduates

The Master’s School Class of 2024 gathered with their friends and families at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT on Saturday, June 1 for the school’s 53rd Commencement.
TMS Board Chairman Todd Shelansky opened the ceremony by challenging the Class of 2024 to build habits now to block out the “noise” of the world that crowds out God. “Spend time with God daily in His Word and in prayer so that you are able to hear and recognize God’s voice and His leading,” Shelansky said. “Save, invest and give out the blessings God provides. And do the hard work now, early in your journey, and you will set yourself up for success.”
Each of the graduates was recognized and uniquely honored by a faculty member who noted the graduate’s admirable qualities, accomplishments, and future plans. Each faculty member also reflected on the special relationship he or she had developed with the student he or she was honoring.
The ceremony included speeches from several students reflecting on their high school experience and thanking their families, teachers and classmates. Class Salutatorian Jaydon Buckle shared, “The Master’s School has provided me with a safe place to grow as a student and an athlete, while also giving me the opportunity to form bonds that I will have forever. I want to thank all of the teachers, teammates, classmates, and friends who have made my time here at Master’s a great time. The Master’s School is a welcoming, tight-knit community that will always have a special place in my heart.” Ceremony highlights also included instrumental student performances, scripture readings by students and a video montage of the graduates during their years at The Master’s School.
Each graduate was presented with their diploma as well as their unique Class of 2024 medallion designed by senior art student Tabitha Carrasquillo. One especially emotional moment for all in attendance was when class Valedictorian Thomas Allen was presented his diploma by his grandfather, former Master’s School Headmaster Don Steele.
Head of School Dr. Deborah DeBisschop closed out the graduation ceremony with her Charge to the Class of 2024. “A typical recurring theme emerges in commencement addresses to ‘be all you can be.’ I counter that this charge, while encouraging, is limiting. To elaborate, to be all you can be bounds you within the constraints of your immediate experiences and imagination. Yet, God promises and calls you to a future that is more than you can imagine.” DeBisschop challenged the Class of 2024 to “trust that the Lord
has a plan that will call you beyond the constraints of your imagination to an otherwise unimaginable future.”
