Lions Drop Frustrating Home Opener

Josh Lawrence
The Boys Varsity Soccer team opened their season on September 3 against the visiting Central Christian Academy. Master's did well to set the tone, maintaining the lion's share of the possession and racking up 22 shots on target throughout. Unfortunately none of these shots found the back of the net while CCA managed to convert on two of a meager six opportunities: the first a scorching top corner finish from 30 yards out and the second a tap in after a brutal challenge against charging TMS keeper Cam Peters. Sophomore Ben Yawingu earns Man of the Match honors for his relentless defense locking down the left side of the field. Although the result isn't what the Lions would have liked to see the match still served as an encouraging first outing and with a few more lucky breaks Master's will hope to take the series aggregate when they visit CCA next week. Great game boys!
