W [5-4] @ Emmanuel Christian Academy

What a thrilling start to the Middle School Soccer season!

After only two practices the Lions traveled to ECA and won an intense back-and-forth matchup against the always strong Falcons. Masters had their way from the first whistle, with goalie phenom Cam Peters tallying four excellent saves in the first 10 minutes (including an excellent punch out over the crossbar!).

Soon after Ben Frey (2 goals) opened the scoring off an assist from LunaKai Decker (3 goals | 1 assist). Luna was not done contributing there, as the Lions striker found the back of the net himself twice before the end of the first half. And neither were the Falcons going to go away quietly, as Emmanuel scored three times in relatively quick sucession to tie the game as the teams went to the break. An award-worthy solo effort from Man of the Match Daniel Reynolds to track back 30 yards and stop a likely tie-breaking Falcons goal was the highlight of the first half.

Masters returned to the field in the second period determined and ready to compete, as they tightened up their midfield and kept the passing lanes closed. Evan Ellrod and Reagan Luchina locked it down along the back line while Porter Willauer, SouL Decker (1 assist), and Michael Baah-Minakah ran themselves ragged hounding loose balls in the middle and running through to attack. Eddie Langlois, Max Yawingu, Jonah Gove, and James Scharoff provided versatility throughout the game - each playing several different positions and competing hard no matter what situation they found themselves in.

Luna and Ben each netted a second half goal to keep Masters ahead, while Cam finsihed with twelve total saves - the highest tally of his Masters School career!

Jackson Guilliams and JD Beebe provided invaluable hustle and physicality at outside back - keeping the Emmanuel wings out wide and chasing every loose ball that came their way, while Ryan Luchina set himself apart with his tenacity and grit.

We could not have asked for a more exciting way to kick off the MS Boys Soccer season - great work boys!

GO LIONS!!
